Thank you for considering me as your make-up artist and hair stylist for your special day.
Being engaged is one of my fondest memories. I just loved the planning, bachelorette parties and reading loads of magazines to get the top bridal and skin care tips.
As an engagement gift from me to you, I have decided to unveil my special wedding prep secrets so that you can look and feel your best on the big day...
Now is the time to get the perfect skincare regime to give a healthy glow, protect, hydrate and remove/prevent sun damaged spots and any pigmentations. Products that I can strongly recommend are RegimA, Nimue Tegnology, Dermalogica and Environ.
A visit to a Skincare Therapist/Specialist and regular skincare treatments can make a world of a difference, so be sure to work it into your busy schedule. For home care, I advise to invest in a good exfoliator (I love Nimue's Enzyme Exfoliator and Dermalogica's Daily Microfoliator) and the basics - cleanser and AM & PM moisturisers. A serum that I personally believe in, is Environ's Colostrum gel and for the eyes, I would recommend Environ C-Quence eye cream (alleviates dark circles and reduces fine lines) and Nimue Eye Serum.
For that summer glow, it is best to stay safe and protect your skin as far as possible.
The sunblocks I trust and recommend are Nimue and Bioderma's sun care products.
I do prefer self-tan above a sunbed and Can Tan. If you are going that route, be sure to try out the products beforehand to ensure that it doesn't give you a rash and that the colour does not turn out yellow. Self-tanners that I can recommend are St Tropez and Xen Tan.
If you are considering Botox, please keep in mind that it takes three to four months to wear off, so the first time you go for treatment should be at least four months before your wedding, in case you are not satisfied with the results. It is something to get used to but if it's done right, the results look amazing! It can however affect the way you smile, so choose wisely.
Make sure to take your vitamins & minerals in advance. A healthy body is a happy you!
I would recommend Mega Omega Supreme. Vital's Hair, Skin and Nail products are also stunning. Start making it a habit to drink Vita Thion daily, as this will hydrate, give healthy skin and loads of energy.
My personal favourite is the Green Powder. This product is excellent! It detoxes, cleanses, prevents brake outs, is a powerful antioxidant and destroys free radicals in your skin that cause aging.
Another must is a good Vitamin B-complex tablet to assist with the sustained release of energy and Flaxseed oil for radiance and aching joints.
Start early with a good exercise programme to keep the energy levels up, the stress levels low and your skin fresh and fabulous.
Go for a steam bath or sauna often, as this will help to get rid of bad toxins.
Products I can recommend for your body are Exfoliate (a personal favourite) and Annique Skin Care's yellow skin buff and their two cellulite creams - one for AM and one for PM. Annique also has brilliant meal replacement shakes to drop some unwanted kilos or try Patrick Holford's Low GI diet.
I recommend to start going for hair treatments 2-3 months before your wedding and to colour your hair a week before. Also, I do suggest treating yourself to a Brazilian hair blow dry, especially for ethnic hair; it just does wonders!
You need to understand the type of hair you have. If your hair becomes oily after the first day of washing, you have oily hair. When you find dandruff flakes on your scalp and split ends, you can be sure that you have dry hair. You have normal hair if you do not have any of the above problems.
The usage of a nice hydrating mask will be beneficial as well.
The time is drawing near and you would want to get everything ready and set to go go go the last week before your big day.
If you want eyelash extensions, I recommend coming two weeks before your wedding for a full set application so you can get used to it. There is also a possibility of an allergic reaction to the glue - if that is the case, sensitive glue (Red Cap from Luscious Lashes) can be used for your fill before the wedding.
Now you are in the home stretch...
Stay hydrated by eating food with high water content (like salads) and drinking plenty of fluids. Focus on keeping your skin well moisturised and on controlling your stress levels, since stress can lead to sensitive, irritable skin and break outs.
If you are planning a spa day, make sure of all the products being used on you - you do not want to find out you are allergic to a certain ingredient and break out before your wedding! A full body exfoliation is a great idea to give a healthy glow, remember however, exfoliate but be gentle. Do not use harsh scrubs, since they can irritate the skin. Instead, remove dead, dull skin with a moisturiser that contains gentle exfoliating ingredients, such as lactic or glycolic acid.
